Who Has The Worst Films? Vin Diesel or “The Rock”?

vin diesel or the rock

If someone tells you that you have two hours to kill in the movie theater, with only two options, which would you choose: a Vin Diesel or Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson movie? Folks, walking out of the theater is not a choice.

These two actors continue to get leading roles in action movies, but most Americans can’t figure out why. We decided to evaluate both their careers, in order to decide which movie would be the most tolerable. The real question is, would you rather see Dwayne Johnson’s constant eye brow raise or Vin Diesel’s over exaggerated accent?

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

“The Rock” began his career in the wrestling entertainment industry in both the WWF and WWE. He had a 9 year stretch in the wrestling world, and was easily one of the most recognizable faces both inside and outside the ring. Unfortunately, he decided to make the transition to movies. He got his big break in a brief appearance as the Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns. This resulted in his first starring role in the movie The Scorpion King. This first leading role landed him in the Guinness Book of World Records for the highest starting salary for a first starring role, earning him 5.5 millions dollars.

Even kids knew he wasn’t a good actor. He lost to Johnny Depp for the favorite movie actor in the 2008 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. If you’re still contemplating whether Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a good actor, I dare you to go his new movie the Tooth Fairy. It releases in theaters on 1/22/09. Try and sit through the whole movie, good luck.

Vin Diesel

vin diesel

Mark Sinclair Vincent a.k.a. Vin Diesel had a much different career path. He spent his entire youth around the theater with his family, and was heavily involved in the acting industry. However, his first play at age 7 came from getting caught breaking into a theater. The director surprisingly offered him and his friend’s scripts instead of alerting authorities.

Unfortunately for the viewing public, he chose acting instead of the criminal path. He made his first screen debut in the 1990 movie Awakenings; this instantly catapulted his career. He has since appeared in several films, mostly action flicks, where he’s allowed to relish on his obnoxious accent and muscles in an attempt to distract us from his terrible acting skills.

The only real question I have for the readers is whether or not there will be another Fast and Furious. If so, I’ll be driving my car off the edge of a cliff. That is, if I’m forced to watch that garbage.

Well, First off I liked all the Fast and the Furious movies. Secondly, there are things about the movie XXX I liked. Like the opening sequence where Rammstein is is playing Feuer Frei in the church is one of the coolest opening sequences I have ever seen in a movie. And I loved anarchy 99's palace, It was I thought it was the real star. I actually really enjoyed the Chronicles of Riddick, the sequals stank but the first one I thought was really good. I've never liked a rock movie, so I have to give Vin the win.

Vin Diesel may have been in better movies (he's also been Hollywood longer and has more movies under his belt than The Rock) but he plays the same character in almost every film. Saving Private Ryan, Pitch Black, Iron Giant, and the Knockaround Guys are my favorite out of the movies listed; not because I think his performances were great but because they are pretty good movies.

The Rock could have range but he needs to fire whomever is representing him. I'll admit that I liked him in The Rundown, and Southland Tales to a certain degree, even though I still don't understand it. Lately, he's been typecast into family/kids movies, which isn't too bad considering they tend to make money (yes, Get Smart, Race to Witch Mountain, and The Tooth Fairy weren't great critically but they all made profits) but he's never going to be taken seriously until he starts getting into more adult oriented stuff.

But who has the worst films? Most movie flops? I'd say it's a tie.
