My best friend is a chick and my new girlfriend can’t stand it. She gets all pissed off when I make plans with my friend or call her. Our families have been friends since I was born and she is like a sister to me. Don’t you know how the story goes? A man and a woman are just friends, but suddenly something changes and he realizes he is actually in love with his best friend. It always happens at the worst time too. He ends up leaving his girlfriend at the altar, marries his best friend and lives happily ever after. You should really watch some Lifetime movies.

On a scale of one to ten, rank your best friend physically. Now rank your girlfriend. If your best friend ranks higher than or equal to your girlfriend, you need to pick one or the other. A woman doesn’t trust any woman that ranks higher than her. If your best friend is an ugo, then you don’t have anything to worry about and eventually your girlfriend will get over it. When a woman looks at another woman, she sees what the other girl has and what she doesn’t. This stirs up jealousy. When your girlfriend gets jealous you are in for a ride. Her jealousy becomes your problem and you will either need to get rid of whatever it is making her jealous or get rid of her. Your girlfriend isn’t going to get over her jealousy because jealousy comes from a person’s own insecurities. As we know, insecurities cannot be cured over night. Even if some insecurities can be cured with time, there are other insecurities that will never go away.

If you want to keep your best friend and your girlfriend both in the picture, some changes will need to be made. First, if your best friend calls, talk to her on the phone in the same room as your girlfriend. If your girlfriend wasn’t around when you talked to your best friend then tell your girlfriend that you talked to your best friend that day. Tell her what you guys talked about and let her know you have nothing to hide. Second, always include your girlfriend in the plans you make with your best friend. Try to show more affection than normal when you are both hanging out with your best friend. Make your girlfriend feel special and let her think she is number one. Finally, always try to stay away from conversations that don’t include your girlfriend. The more she sees you and your best friend chatting away and reminiscing, the more time she will have to develop jealous feelings.
