Before entering the politics game, Barack Obama wrote his first book “Dreams From My Father” (1995). In this book he admits to using marijuana and cocaine (“maybe a little blow”). The best President ever, sigh, George W. Bush has been linked to alcohol abuse, cocaine, and marijuana use, but none of this has been confirmed. Bush has refused to answer any questions about his past experimental drug usage.  St. Martin’s Press published a book in 1999 stating that Bush had been arrested for cocaine possession and that the record had been expunged. This book was recalled and pulled off the shelves after the author was convicted for attempted murder in 1988 and embezzlement in 1992. Also, there was discussion of Bush dropping out of the National Guard to avoid drug testing.

His alcohol problems are no secret. He describes his days before his religious conversion in his 40s as his “nomadic” period and “irresponsible youth” and admitted to drinking “too much” in those years.

President Bill Clinton

President Bill Clinton admitted he tried “pot,” but claims he didn’t inhale. Obama says that’s the point! Let’s take a look at Hillary and Bill in their hippie daze. Now try to deny using Marijuana, look at that hair. Also, after looking at Bill Clinton’s medical record summaries, apparently he suffers from a disease most common in coke heads, “perforated septum.”

Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr.

Kennedy was allegedly involved in the illegal importation and distribution of alcohol during Prohibition in the United States. After the Prohibition ended, Kennedy consolidated an even larger fortune when his company, Somerset Importers, became the exclusive American agent for Gordon’s Dry Gin and Dewar’s Scotch. Anticipating the end of Prohibition, he assembled a large inventory of stock, which he later sold for a profit of millions of dollars when Prohibition was repealed in 1933.

Franklin Roosevelt

Warren Delano, a young opium trader became rich with his strong business skills. In 1851, he settled in Newburgh, N.Y., where his daughter Sara married James Roosevelt, the father of Franklin Roosevelt. F.D.R. inherited the wealth, but it’s not clear how much F.D.R. really  knew about the source of his grandfather’s prosperity. Either way, he was the son of an opium trader.

New Year’s Eve has always been a time to reflect on the past year. Whether its commemorating your accomplishments, or criticizing your faults, we’re always looking for ways to improve our way of living. The top New Year’s resolutions all seem to touch on the same factors of life: mind, body, health, organization, and financial status. We’re going take a look at this year’s top New Year’s resolution, which is losing weight.

John Norcross, a distinguished professor of clinical psychology at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania says about 40 percent to 45 percent of Americans make resolutions each New Year’s, and less 50% pan out. Right off the bat, you’ll have a 50% failure rate on all New Year’s resolutions, and why is this? Well I would say lack of commitment, and skewed guidance, but that’s just me.

Let’s take a look at the most popular New Year’s resolution, losing weight, in more detail.

Losing Weight & Exercising More

This is by far the most common New Year’s resolution. Statistics show more than 34% of American’s are obese, compared to 32.7 who are overweight. The extremely obese take up about 6% share of this epidemic. A person whose 5 feet 5 inches tall becomes overweight at 150 pounds (68 kg), and obese at 180 pounds (82 kg). Utilize the BMI calculator to check where you stand.

The truth is…American’s are lazy; there’s no way around it. American’s refuse to eat well, and exercise on a regular basis. So how can we stay on track with our fitness goals? Read on.

Weight Loss FAIL Trends

Yes, people have become more health conscious over the past couple years, but how many people really commit to this enormous lifestyle change? Exercising more is a start, but it takes a healthy diet to really produce an obvious body transformation. Just like any other year, there will be an influx of people at your local gym for the first 1-3 months of the year. After the first quarter of 2010, you’ll start to see this number fade, and your gym will finally be back to normal. The failure rate for losing weight is probably much higher than 50% in my opinion.

How to Stay on Track

Studies have shown that setting vague weight loss and fitness goals is on of the main reasons for failure. If you’re really committed to losing weight, follow a strict workout plan. Choosing a solid 12 or 16-week workout plan will make a great start to the year. This will keep you on track, and focused on your fitness goals. Several guys have referred the P90X Plus workout routine to me; you can do it at home, and it’s challenging. There are countless working plans out there, so do your research and choose the one that fits your fitness goals best.

Simple Health Tips to Get you There!

Nutritional

• Stop eating fast food
• Eat more fruits and vegetables
• Stop drinking liquid calories (soft drinks, energy drinks)
• Eat five or six smalls meals per day
• Eat at home more often

Exercise

• Walk up stairs versus taking the elevator
• Walk or ride a bike to work twice per week
• Walk 45 minutes per day
• Exercise for 1 hour per weekday

Girl, Interrupted (1999)

The film follows Susanna Kaysen (Winona Ryder), a troubled teenager who ends up in a mental asylum for 18 months after her failed suicide attempt. During her stay at the mental institution, she meets a range of weird characters, including Lisa (Angeline Jolie) the sociopath, and Daisy (Brittany Murphy) the sexually abused young girl who then developed an eating disorder. Ross, Cookie, and Nikki (Brittany Murphy) go on a 3 day drug absorbed binge through Los Angeles, crashing hard at the end. In the meantime, the drug specialist ‘The Cook’ starts up a new methamphetamine lab, blowing himself up in the process. This groundbreaking comic-book animation film by Robert Rodriguez’s was overwhelmed with action, telling four short stories based in the fictional Basin City. Brittany Murphy’s role was limited, but her part as barmaid Shellie was memorable nonetheless. After she’s slapped around by her possessive ex-boyfriend Jackie Boy (Benicio Del Toro), her new fix Dwight (Clive Owen) hunts Jackie Boy down as an act of revenge.
